Cardamom is the third most expensive spice in the world. These are small green coloured pods native to India but now also cultivated in Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Malaysia and Tanzania. Known for their sweet, resinous and pleasant aroma, they have historically been traded as an expensive item between trade routes of Europe. The pods are filled with small black seeds which are crushed before use, but since the seeds are delicate and lose flavour quickly when exposed to air, the whole pod is usually transported, Cardamom has a very unique freshning aroma and is mostly used in very small quantities to bring out the flavour of Indian, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean rice dishes, teas and other beverages and desserts. Non-culinary uses of cardamon include usage in toothpaste, mouth freshner and other oral products. Cardamoms have a high Vitamin C, Iron, Calcium and B-6 content. We provide different varieties of cardamons: Indian Original, Siam and Jawa.
